Unit 3: Positioning: How Does The Writer Construct The Participants In The Text And How Is The Reader Constructed?
More readings are provided in this unit. But for the second reading and also the text for assignment, the articles have been replaced to an article entitle “Saying Sorry”. This unit focusing to enhance our understanding on how to put up the participants in the text in their roles and also to determine the stance of the readers should be. I have understood about the condemning or commending the text. In other words, it means that I have understood about the writer’s stance towards the topic based on the way he reflects the story.
In my opinion, this is the most interesting part for this topic as it taught us to think the way the writer think when he trying to make the readers to belief his opinion.
As for “Critical literacy: a linguistic perspective” and “Speech and speakers: the formation of individuals in discourse and genre”, it is a problem for me to understand the content because it focusing on the ideology.
For this topic, Qursyia, Thuraya, and Yusafiza have explained criteria that I already understand before. But they managed to help me by giving more explanation regarding the two last reading.
